Boulevard Bus Only Lane

The Boulevard Bus Way creates faster trips for MTS passengers by providing a three-mile dedicated lane for buses along El Cajon Blvd. between Park Blvd. and Fairmount Ave. 

Iris Rapid

A new proposed Rapid route (high-frequency, limited stop service)that may run between Otay Mesa and Imperial Beach. 

Zero Emissions Bus (ZEB) Pilot Program

A pilot project designed to evaluate electric buses for use within the MTS system. 

Mid-Coast Trolley Extension

An extension of Trolley service from Santa Fe Depot to the University City community. 

Downtown Off-Street Layover Facility 

Downtown parking facility for transit vehicles between runs.

30th Street Bus Stop Rebalancing

In order to help improve service reliability and travel time, MTS will be discontinuing or relocating some Route 2 and Route 6 bus stops along 30th Street in areas where bus stops are placed very closely together.

Streetcar Feasibility Study - 2012

Results of a study conducted in 2012 to evaluate the feasibility of reconnecting Downtown and Balboa Park using a streetcar line. 

Downtown Rapid Stations

Adding Rapid stations to Broadway downtown.

Trolley Renewal

A project to rebuild the Orange and Blue lines to allow the use of low-floor Trolleys over our entire network.

Transit Optimization Plan

MTS is seeking feedback from San Diego County residents and workers to help determine how current routing and scheduling are meeting their needs.

Courthouse Station

MTS is building a Trolley station in downtown San Diego that will be the new western terminus for the Orange Line (the UC San Diego Blue Line will not utilize this station). The Courthouse station is needed to enhance trolley operations at Santa Fe Depot and America Plaza in anticipation of the UC San Diego Blue Line’s Mid-Coast Trolley extension.

Encanto/62nd Street Transit Oriented Development

AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc. (AMCAL) is developing a 98,600 square foot mixed-use building containing 66 affordable housing apartment units and 1 manager unit (total 67 units) and 1,000 square feet of commercial, over a one-level subterranean parking garage, and a 100 parking space surface MTS parking lot.

Mid-City Centerline Rapid

Freeway-level transit stations along State Route 15 (SR 15) at University Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard as well as transit-only lanes north of I-805 to just south of I-8.

Regional Transit Fare Ordinance

Comprehensive fare ordinance covering fares through MTS and NCTD.

Grossmont Transit Center Track Repair Project

South Bay Bus Rapid Transit

When completed, South Bay Rapid will span 21 miles, connecting Downtown San Diego and the South Bay region.
